Yes, I did it again. More books have been purchased and sent by delightful publishers.
Fancy a peek? Course you do, so here they are…
I am so mega, mega excited by all these books! *cue happy squealing*
I was so lucky to get sent copies of Warcross by Marie Lu and Wonder Woman Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. Both of them came via the wonderful folk at Penguin books, and Turning for Home by Barney Norris is courtesy of Transworld books.
A new John Green book is something to celebrate so I had that on pre-order for ages along with All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater. I think I am in love with this cover and its gorgeous Uranium orange spine. That blue and orange work so well together dont they? am i right?
Invictus has been bigged up all over Twitter and You Tube and i do love me a bit of time travel so im hoping i’ll enjoy that.
The Ada Lovelace book is because I wanted to find out more about her, I mean imagine being Byron’s daughter and being involved with something so modern and forward thinking as computers! in Victorian times!
I couldnt resist the Potion diaries 2 & 3 even though i havent read book 1 yet. They are an easy but fun read and im sure ill enjoy binging on them sometime in the future.
Finally to get a copy of The Glass Town Game by Catherynne M Valente is so fab. It wasnt available in the UK when it first came out and considering its based around The Brontes and the fictional world they created how could I not get it! Oh and last but not least Radiance also by the wonderful Cathrynne was a no brainer really it looks to be an unusual type of book. Such a shame about the awful cover design though. The US edition is so beautiful. *shakes head in despair*
I’m taking part in a new (to me) book blog meme today called Can’t wait Wednesday. This is where we post about a book thats not been published yet but that we really cannot wait to be so we can jump on it and devour it in one go, or something along those lines.
Its hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings blog. Thanks for this Tressa, i’m looking forward to taking part and reading everyones posts.
The book i’m most waiting for right now is the new John Green which is called ‘Turtles All The Way Down’ and comes out in October. I’m so excited to read a new book by him and have actually already pre-ordered it.
It all begins with a fugitive billionaire and the promise of a cash reward. Turtles All the Way Down is about lifelong friendship, the intimacy of an unexpected reunion, Star Wars fan fiction, and tuatara. But at its heart is Aza Holmes, a young woman navigating daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts. In his long-awaited return, John Green shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity.
I dont know if this is gonna be the final cover (hope not as its a bit plain) but still makes me want to read it right now.
What have i done with my life? (apart from bought books of course)
*Cries all the tears and designs a time machine to go back*
But on a positive note here are the Top 5 books I am hugely anticipating for the second half of the year, 3 of them are already published in hardback but I prefer to wait for the paperback if possible so, bearing that in mind, bring it on!
Turtles all the way down by John Green – Yes, a new John Green novel, I am beside myself with excitement for this one (lets hope the finished cover will be more thrilling than this one however). The fault in our stars was such a massive hit he is gonna have to go it some to compete with himself but I have a feeling this will be ace. I have already Pre-ordered it.
The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman – Whilst I still have not read all the His Dark Materials books I did read a sneaky first chapter of this online and it had me hooked so i cant wait. This i have also Pre-ordered and strangely they both come out on 10th October!
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead – This actually comes out in paperback in just two days time (29th June) so not too long to wait then. Every review of this has been nothing but brilliant so im looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. Its a challenge to myself as its way out of my reading ‘comfort zone’ but fascinating nevertheless.
First Love by Gwendoline Riley – One of the Baileys Prize for Women’s fiction shortlisted books and the only one I really like the sound of. Its a shortish book but so many Booktubers have raved about it. Its published in paperback on 7th September.
The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid – This book has one of the most stunning covers i’ve ever seen in hardback so here’s hoping the paperback cover won’t disappoint. (Are you listening Simon & Schuster?) Again its another genre not normally enjoyed but for some reason I just cant wait to read this. It comes out on 13th July so just over 2 weeks to go, YAY!
