A sort of spooky, sort of TBR

Now you know me, i dont ‘do’ TBR’s coz i’m a mood reader and my mood changes 10 times a day!

But right now that fluid mood is wanting me to read a mix of these books

Three graphic novels;

Bloodlust & Bonnets which is so funny. Its one of those sparsely drawn graphic novels with few words but you get the meaning well enough

Harley Quinn is beautifully drawn and full of action

Giant Days I havent read much of yet, i got this on my iPad with a free trial of Kindle Unlimited.

Annihilation is so good so far, really tense and creepy

The future of another timeline is such an original concept which im enjoying even though its a little heavy going in parts

The Many is a small novella but with a menacing, creepy vibe too which i got from Amazon for just £1.99! Amazing value!

Most of these are so perfect for Halloween too on Thursday!

Let me know if you’ve read any of these

Happy Halloween and Happy All Hallows day too

Monster High Rules!

I got my gorgeous Monster High dolls out today as its coming up to Halloween. I bought these at a bootfair for £1 each.

from left to right we have:

Zombie Shake Rochelle Goyle

Ghoul’s Alive! Frankie Stein

Spectra Vondergeist

I absoloutely love these dolls. I love their poseability (is that a word?)

I love their beautiful faces, their outfits and their delicate bendy limbs.

Oh and I havent forgotten Super Girl, she is friends with them and makes sure they dont get into trouble on the night.

Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell & Faith Erin Hicks

I bought this after seeing it all over Twitter and boy! am i glad i did

Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.
Every autumn, all through high school, they’ve worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world (not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is). They say goodbye every Halloween, and they’re reunited every September.
But this Halloween is different – Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last goodbye.
Josiah’s ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn’t ready to let him. She’s got a plan: what if instead of moping, they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights! Taste all the snacks! And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he’s been mooning over for three years . . .
What if their last shift was an adventure?

Book Review Huh?

Okay then please answer the following questions

Book Title:

Pumpkin Heads

Author:

Rainbow Rowell (words) & Faith Erin Hicks (drawing)

What did you like about it?

Oh where do i begin. It is the most beautifully told, romantic, funny, sweet, heart warming story which, on its own would be amazing but added to this is the fact that its a graphic novel with some of the prettiest artwork i’ve ever seen and you have a real winner!

The colours are perfect for this autumnal story and the characters are well rounded and entertaining.

Anything to dislike?

No, seriously nothing!

Favourite characters?

Deja & Josiah are both lovely but Deja is my favourite because i love her sassiness, sense of humour and all round outlook on life. In fact I want to be Deja, her confidence and guts really inspires me to be me!

Annoying characters?

There’s not enough other characters for anybody to be annoying really

Did you learn anything?

I learnt heaps. I learnt that there is such a thing as a Pumpkin Patch! I learnt that they sell something called Succotash (corn, lima beans and other stuff) YUK!

I knew American’s loved Halloween but I never knew there was something like this you could attend, and this is what books do best, teach us things in an entertaining way.

All the feels or lacking emotion?

Oh goodness the feels in this book come by the bucketload. The whole book is set over the course of one night and by the end I too was deeply in love with Halloween and wished i could visit a Pumpkin Patch too for a caramel apple – YUM!

Its not a full blown flowery story and the love aspect is not obviously done either its just like giving your heart a big hug!

Would you recommend this to someone?

You bet I would. Young and old alike would love this story.
